Dear Earth,

I walk across you today picking up on the secrets you hold.

Will you share them with me?

Dear, dear Earth, land and sea, hand-shaped by the Creator, may I see what is shrouded in you, the unrevealed history you hold of footsteps and failure, that I might help bring healing?

Might I feel the joy of laughter where children’s feet have trod across pastures and down sidewalks and those that landed at the bottom of sliding boards?  Might I sense where worship has been lifted and rolled like waves?

My feet walk trails and neighborhoods, churches and food stores, even battlefields, and find the places where social injustice has been sown like a seed and flourished.

My shoes fall upon rocks and leaves, hills and houses, to find private corners where words angry were loosed and tears have fallen, or worse – brokenness or blood.  I hear you tell your story.

God’s Word in me comes with healing in its wings and hovers over you, earth.  We can cleanse with our prayers and create open places where blessings can fall like rain, where new seeds fall on good soil that is hungry for rightness, for order, for restoration.

And when people walk there then, they know the Creator’s touch even if foreign to their hearts, and they feel love-open to offer a hand, to receive a touch, to know their legitimacy as children of God.

For how we walk and live upon you, if we are free as the ones He created us to be, we bring a blessing towards that ultimate restoration which we long for ourselves as well.  We are dust upon dust, in hope and assurance of glorious freedom!

So may we become who we are meant to be… submitting to the King as noble subjects, authentic ones who steward and care for what we have been given; for as we are restored in identity, walking with God, so you, the earth, will be healed in the process, glad for the feel of the feet of the children of God.

19 The whole creation waits breathless with anticipation for the revelation of God’s sons and daughters. 20 Creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice—it was the choice of the one who subjected it—but in the hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from slavery to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of God’s children. 22 We know that the whole creation is groaning together and suffering labor pains up until now.  (Romans 8, CEB)

~~~~~~~
How we walk and live upon the earth affects it, as when Abel’s blood cried out from the ground, and as is taught throughout the Bible.  Seeking God through prayer and changing how we live can bring healing to our land and to us as in 2 Chronicles 7:12-22. We each are history healers and history makers.
Abundant grace is available!
    Recently someone in my circle asked a question. If we sew light, what kind of harvest can we expect to receive? So I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately. I love the harvest you describe here. They receive light without even knowing where it came from, but it passes seamlessly from child to earth to child, giving life and love.
    I couldn’t have articulated this to you, but that was what I was striving for when I walked around our elementary school this week praying. There had been a scare last week when someone in a vehicle approached some children offering a ride. And again when someone in a pickup followed some children, video taping them. The next day, when I dropped my children off at school, the air was thick with fear. I walked around the grounds, praying, “sewing light”, leaving a deposit on the earth to be picked up by His children, leaving the offer of freedom.
    “We are dust upon dust, in hope and assurance of glorious freedom.”
      Thank you so much for sharing your experience! This is what we are here to do – not just hold a line, but advance, sewing light and bringing change. Bringing the Kingdom where there’s been a trespass, cleaning it up and making room for peace increasingly so! Way to go, Christy.
    Robin, I love this post…it makes the earth feel so alive. That phrase ‘For how we walk and live upon you,if we are free as the ones He created us to be,bring the blessing towards that ultimate restoration which we long for ourselves as well. We are dust upon dust, in hope and assurance of glorious freedom.’ Total poetry…such simplicity…I almost feel the earth breathe,and sense the rythm that is supposed to be.That and the pic of Heidi Baker and her family…just plain sorta train wrecks me!
